Bassian Thrush
The Bassian Thrush is a mid-sized, ground-dwelling bird native to eastern and southeastern Australia, including Tasmania. This species primarily inhabits wet sclerophyll forests where it forages alone or in pairs on the forest floor. The Bassian Thrush is territorial and typically quiet. When disturbed, they typically don’t fly far, with wingbeats making a distinctive sound.
On the Mornington Peninsula, you can find them at Greens Bush and around Arthurs Seat. They may appear at other forested locations on the peninsula.
