Anne Dennis
Anne Dennis is a nature lover and ecologist from Gippsland. Growing up surrounded by forest sparked an interest in native flora, leading her to pursue a Biological Science degree including botany and zoology. Zoology colleagues introduced her to birdwatching and they undertook many birdwatching trips across Australia.
After completing her degree and a Diploma of Education, Anne taught for a while, however she had a deep desire to work in nature. Anne’s first role involved helping farmers to enhance their land's ecology and measured success by observing bird species returning to previously denuded landscapes. During her career, Anne has held leadership roles such as Statewide leader of the Tree Victoria Program, Executive Officer of the Roadsides Conservation Committee and Statewide manager of the government’s invasive species program.
In retirement, Anne is active in Birdlife Bayside and other conservation/restoration efforts, participating in bird counts, weeding, planting, volunteering at an indigenous nursery and giving talks on bird-friendly garden design. More recently Anne has become a very keen birder, hoping to see all the Australian bird species.
