Tania Ireton

Tania has been birding for over 50 years, having joined the Gould League of Bird Lovers in primary school, and has birded over most of Australia and its territories, as well as New Zealand, Papua New Guinea, Sumatra, Hong Kong, South Korea and New Caledonia.  She is known for her active involvement in community birding, running BirdLife Bayside since its inception in 1996 and leading many of the outings. 

Tania has a Graduate Certificate in Ornithology from Charles Sturt University, and has been involved in a number of bird surveys over the last 35 years including the Western Port Waterbird Survey, Western Treatment Plant shorebird surveys, monthly Melbourne Water Dandenong Catchment Wetland surveys, monthly Yalukit Willam Nature Reserve bird surveys, monthly Bay Road Heathland Sanctuary bird surveys and even a 12 day shorebird survey in the Saemangeum Estuary in South Korea.
