Yellow-tailed Black-Cockatoo
The Yellow-tailed Black Cockatoo is a large, black-cockatoo native to southeastern Australia. It’s iconic mournful call and slow wingbeats make them easily recognisable.
Often mistaken as a rare bird, they are actually quite common and are the only black-cockatoo species which isn’t listed as a threatened species in Australia.
It is nomadic in nature, making large distance movements across a wide landscape, often in flocks. On the Mornington Peninsula, you can see them year-round.
