Peter Bennett
Peter has been interested in birds and natural history since childhood and, when a teenager, worked with the Victorian Ornithological Research Group, banding flame robins and little penguins.
An avid photographer, Peter has co-led Birdlife Melbourne Photographic Group since 2014. As a member of BirdLife Melbourne he leads regular bird walks in Plenty Gorge Park (his local wilderness).
After a forty-year career teaching science (biology and chemistry) in secondary schools, Peter has developed a keen interest in effectively using data. He gives talks regularly about his bird watching hobby.
Since retirement Peter is spending as much time as possible birdwatching in his local area as well as venturing further afield in Australia: longer expeditions around Queensland, Northern Territory and WA, as well as shorter trips - most recently the Flinders Ranges and north-eastern NSW. Another major interest is teaching his grandchildren to love birds as much as he does.
